Accountant

Moorhead Public Service (MPS) is accepting applications for an Accountant. Under limited supervision, this position performs a variety of accounting functions and tasks, including maintaining and posting entries to the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, and working with the utility billing system. Those functions include compiling, preparing, and maintaining financial data and records, and ensuring that all financial data is recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and consistent with established policies and procedures.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting; three years of accounting experience with general accounting activities, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and payroll; and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or the ability to obtain CPA designation.

Desired qualifications include five years of utility accounting experience with general accounting activities, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and payroll.

The 2023 yearly salary range for this position is between $74,148 and $114,073. The starting salary will be dependent upon experience and education. Excellent health insurance and benefits package.
